If you are looking for a Bible teaching church that puts Jesus first... keep looking. Don't stop here. I graduated from their "college" with honors about a decade ago. I doubt they've changed much since then. Racism: whites were STRONGLY discouraged from dating other races, and even had to get written parental permission to date blacks. No, I'm not joking. Misogyny? Women weren't allowed to study Greek, and they never even used the word "exegesis". Prev pastor (now in jail) said, "It'll be a cold day in hell before I get my theology from a woman." A whole generation still in power at this church believes this. If you look up the church's history, you will see a trend of hero-worship that resulted in the two previous pastors indulging in affairs and child molestation, and covering up the sexual escapades of church leaders. However, the greatest tragedy is that loyalty to God is measured only by obedience to their legalistic interpretation, and loyalty to their leaders. Has this church changed? Not likely. The current pastor was trained at the same college I went to. I love theology. I love the Bible. I love a genuine relationship with the Lord. I strongly caution against allowing yourself to be taught from First Baptist Hammond's theology.

This church is a PRISON.. it's a TRAP. I went here since I was 8 years old. I was unhappy and depressed with the RACIAL discrimination when I was in their private city baptist school. The other kids would call me names, pee in my locker, hit me in my genitals, slap my head.. This is NOT a church but more of a cult. I LEFT and I'm glad it was before Schaap committed sexual acts. WAKE UP PEOPLE! Get a grip of your life, stop wasting anymore time and do things that make YOU HAPPY. Don't be followers and start being leaders! Stop letting other people tell you how to live your life! Be yourself and be proud of who you are! I'll tell you guys now.. I'm so happy I can think 'outside the box' for myself again.

  • Very very good place to come for worship and to grow closer with God. With the new pastor the church is growing stronger then ever before. And i can't wait to see what God has in store.

  • Very genuine Christian experience, the bible is taught and explained clearly, and the congregation was extremely friendly.

  • Love Pastor Wilkerson & his sermons! He truly preaches from the KJV Bible. The people who attend the church are kind & very friendly. They made me feel welcome the first time I attended & every Sunday since.
